Made My Day
Hey.. Thanks for reading my diary and letting me know.. I wonder if people read it or not.. I a getting a lot more comments this time than I ever did when I wrote before.. Sorry Marvin is having hip trouble.. I don't want any part of a nursing home . They put me in one for eight days after my colon removal... Never again.. That's another story all together for another time... God has a reason for all of these things I am sure.. I just hope I can keep my writings good enough to take some peoples mind's off their problems even just for a moment. understand what it is like to be a caregiver when you need a caregiver yourself.. K always try's to tell me how sorry she is because she can't do things around the house like she should and I try to tell her she doesn't have to do that just let me know what needs to be done and just don't expect very speedy service..,, I enjoy reading other peoples diaries and comments. Some of the folks on here have a real talent for writing.. I am going to assume you don't mind and post this to my diary for today..
I went to the VA yesterday and they upped my insulin dose trying to keep my sugar level down. They told me when I asked about the plavic problem I am having. Case you don't remember, I need to stop it for a short time so I can have a test on my throat and swallowin g system. They told me yesterday I probably wont be able to be taken off it for a year after the stint surgery.. OH my.. I think I am going to write a blues song... "Pain Pain Pain"... I have most of the words already.. Watch for me on TV.. Yeah I still couldn't talk them out of any pain medicine... pain pain pain.. Gonna work on that song...
I saw two sandhill cranes today.. I didn't have my cameras with me.. Just my phone cameras.. I have found if I get out of my truck to take pictures of birds etc they scatter quickly. On the other hand I can drive very close to them if I go slowly.. I got close and got a couple of nice pictures.. Oh they wee in a gracy field just outside of the Marlins training camp. I am on o2 all the time now at 2 1/2 and 3 or more if I am moving about. Have even gone to 4 at times with my Helios...I wonder if it is as much as I set it at...doesn't seem enough most of the time.
I use a long hose and a concentrator at home and have those oxy view glasses and think they are wonderful. Husband fell last month and had surgery for a half hip replacement, the ball part. He is doing well, but not home yet and we hope that is where he will come to instead of a nursing home for more therapy. He has Parkinson's and that is not easy either, but we manage.
It is hard when both people are not in good health at the same time...but you know that already.
Didn't mean to rattle on, just wanted you to know I have missed you and glad you are back. These computers are something else, I still learn things quite by accident like you.

Help help.. Cant get my entry in
The weather is just great today.. I don't feel good enough to go out and do anything though.. My wife K is not doing very well today at all. We were about to go to the ER. and she decided to call a lung Dr she sees a lot and he had her come rite in..He checked her over good and changed her meds. Gave her prednisone, an antibiotic, a codeine cough syrup, upped her breathing treatments and told her to go to the ER it got worse..
They had done a big-time breathing test on her a while ago and we asked him about that. He said she has 40% lung capacity. He said someone should stay with her like a nurse.. I told him THAT'S WHAT I DO. I thought when I first came down with PH she was going to be the caregiver for me. Hasn't worked out that way. We talk about our situation almost every day and haven't worked out anything yet.. I am sure something will come up to take care of our situation.. If any of you have had a problem like we have and have found a solution I would like to hear what it is... We talk a lot bout traveling. And haven't given up on the idea yet.. I talked with the Oxygen people and they say they can work out almost anything we need.. We went to Alaska to visit my son Paul and his family. We flay and they provided all the way and checked on us constantly. They had all the necessary equipment at my son's house before we got there. The name of our supplier is, "American Home Patient". They take care of us really great.. Our main problem now is K feeling so bad and not sleeping well at all
I am still working on my Blues song, "PAIN PAIN PAIN". I've got it in my head just having trouble getting it all together

My butt was draggin
well guess I'll keep trying Might get lucky..
Nice weather today.. I went to a gun-show Sat and Sun at Deland fairgrounds.. Sooo no nap... Butt was draggin yesterday evening.. Had to get up and go to the dentist at VA this AM . Had problems driving home. Sleepy sleepy.. Opened the windows and turned up the radio. Drove as fast as everyone else was and made it.. Had lunch and K let me nap four hrs.. The Show was good. I bought some things I had been looking for and sold or traded some things I needed to move out.. K is cooking beef stew and it's smelling great.. A friend of mine who sets up with me and Karl Jores. Dave Shelton. Bought some deer tinderloin wraped in bacon strips that he had smoked.. Sweetee those things were fantastis... It's a social type thing setting up with these guys.. I worked for Karl as a gunsmith in a store he had back in 1971-1982. I met Dave when he was renting a house to my oldest son..Karl is a retired engineer from NASA and Dave is an engineer for NASA ground power.. Small world.. The house was next to Bill Robb's house. Folks call Him Gator Bill. He is the county neusance gator getter.. Hd asked me to take photos of one of his hunts. I guess I did good because I became his assistant for over 14 years as assistant gator trappefr and eventualy going professional and being paid for it. We worked good together.. We averages 365 gators a year and never got hurt. Almost always If we got to see the gator we got the gator. Only scarry time I can remember is when we were working one from a boat.. We had it on a big hook and 250 pound test line.. Most of the time they try to run and get away.. This guy kept turning and going undnder the boat and spinning us round and round. The boat was small, 12 feet, so we had problems keeping from turning over.. All this timeI was on O2 and set it up to 4.0 and gettking tired. The gator finaly took two bites out of the boat and we were taking on water. So Ok says Bill lets bust him.. I loaded the bang stick with a 444 marlin, This cartridge looks like something to shoot tan ks.. The hunt guits use them to stop large bears in Alasks. We don't always use ammo that big. Igt depends on the size of the gator. I dispatched him with a shot to the brain.. We had too much water in the boat to take him on board so we kept the side of the boat with the largest holes up and motered back to land Towing him behind.. When we had large ones like this guy, 11 feet plus, if we dont have spectaters around to help us load them in our truck we call on local firemen.. They like getting in on it.. Gets them out of the station a little while. Much later ar our aewa enlarges we had a winch installed in the back inside of the gtruck to pull them in..
Oh my there I go on and on again.. I hope I don't bore you guys.. I am happy I got to do the things did. It was great to have a friend who would let me work with him in the condition I was.. We worked good together.. I trusted him and he trusted me..

Tired tired tired.. Air AIR AIR
This wont be very long this evening. I had some nice coments to my last entry and thank
the ladies for the nice responses.. I a not well today.. Started yesterday. I had lone of my grandsons over doing some chores for me and he can work faster then I can supervise...Sure not like it was back in my army days.. B oy could I bark at them. I could see them close their ears due to my ear banging so they called it.. I have been is real heavy chest pain and am not sure what it is coming from.. I have with an appointment with an internist tomorrow to see if he can come up with something. He was in on the major surgery I had to remove my colon and also when I overdosed from not having the correct instructions for my dope. Which they wont give me now.. He also worked on me when I had my seizures.. So I am hoping he can find me a relief. My blood pressure is running high also.. I tell ya folks this getting old is scary. I had made an appointment to meet a friend at the shooting range today. He was coming from Orman Beach which is an hour and a half away so I met him and checked out a rifle he had and made him a part in the club's machine shop. Then we went to supper and I came home with more pain.. You guys think the good thoughts and hope This doctor is open minded to my pain..I hope this wasn't gruesome.. I am still up. I wont let this get me down. There are too many things I need to do and so many things I need to do for others. Plus I am the caregiver for I.. She had a bad night. Then about noon perked up and made two care bears she makes for folks from peoples family or friends out of clothes they have worn. People say they like the way she makes them because she puts a lot of love in them..

Doctors and Rockets
Well yester was one of those Doctor appointment days that's for sure.. I took K to her lung dr in the Am then her Cancer doc in the afternoon. Then... I went to see my cardiologist.. They checked me with ekg machine looked at it funny and drug in another machine.. Ran the test strip again and showed it to my dr and he moved the patches around a little and ran it again.. Then they scheduled me for an echo and srtpothalieum stress test. Wanted to know about pain and I told him sure had some but not as bad as before the stents were put in. Asked about arm pain and told him yes once in a while.. I told him my maine problem is shortness of breath and bizziness... So then I asked him about taking a short break on plavic so I could get the swallowing test done at University f south FL . He said lets just hold off on that. He chainged my medications a little because my blood preassure is running a little high.. Funny how doctors wan t to work on what is their particular specialty.. Heart doc doesn't care if I cant swallow and choke. And Swallow doc doesn't care if I come off plavic and go into blood clots due to the new stents..Then I came home and tried to finish a few small repair jobs.. Not to be done.. Too much pain and short of breath.. Went to bed.
Hummm well we couldn't get the shuttle launched yesterday.. The weather just wouldn't give us a break. Will give it another shot Saturday.. Sure disappointed a lot lf people.. We can see the launch from my house. It' just at 15 miles. We watch the launch control on NASA select TV and monitor all the conversations between the techs and crew on a ham radio channel they feed into. I saw night launches before and I tell you they are spectacular.. Especially if the wind is coming in off the ocean.. The sound is like great thunder and it shakes our windows and houses and the ground.. All dogs go crazy barking b If you could ever get here to see even a day time shot you should.. These Big boys have fantastic toys

Hummm well we couldn't get the shuttle launched yesterday.. The weather just wouldn't give us a break. Will give it another shot Saturday.. Sure disappointed a lot lf people.. We can see the launch from my house. It' just at 15 miles. We watch the launch control on NASA select TV and monitor all the conversations between the techs and crew on a ham radio channel they feed into. I saw night launches before and I tell you they are spectacular.. Especially if the wind is coming in off the ocean.. The sound is like great thunder and it shakes our windows and houses and the ground.. All the dogs go crazy barking.. If you could ever get here to see even a day time shot you should.. These Big boys have fantastic toys

BANG BANG
WOW Christmas is getting so so close.. Me and K are past the present shopping days now.. Just getting too old for it.. Our grand children are 14 years and on up.. Out get this now Our Great Grandchildren are not even close to us here in fl. they are in NM. So we are sending money to all the older ones and presents to the great ones.. We still enjoy Christmas but with K in the bad condion and me in the condition I am we are going to stay home like we do most of the time and watch TV and hope somone comes to visite.. We will probable make it to church. We went Wed and had a church wide dinner. Nice ham and beef and lots of great coverd dishes.. All the ladies and some of the men just try to out do them selves at potluck or coverd dishes.. I always eat too much.. I have to try all of it you know.. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings. adn I didn't.
I am still in deep pain. I am taking twice the dose of codine and Ibuprofin which is all they want me to take. I have pain patches got at the VA and I wear them on my upper back at a point just inside my right shoulder blade and on both sides a my belt line. It doesn't help.. I also have a tens unit I put on my shoulder and back and move it around from time to time.. For you who don't know what that is it's a unit that you put two paches on either side on he pain area and wires from the paches are connected to a litle box about the size of a pack of cigs. the thing sends out electric pulces either constan or pulsing. you set it like you want and as high as you can stand.. It helps some I think.. That or it takes my mind off the pain a little. The pain in my shoulder feels like it goes all the way through. It's not a pinpoint pain like a muscle . It's more of an area pain. Like a lung. I have been trying to ge an appt with a Dr for a few days now that I have had luck with in the past.. No response on the phone..Busy time of year I guess and he is building a new office just about three blocks from me..

My grandson Jessie was over yesterday and today, he spent the night. He loves to come over and help us out.. It amazes me how he has bonded with K. He seems to look for things she wants and does it before she asks. He helped me clean out my Gun repain shop on the side of the house. wow how that kid works.. We found things I had given up on finding years ago. I can see the floor now.. Bought some storage cabinets and sorted out all my tools and parts.. I have enough I found to make three cal 45 pistols.. That's one thing I can still do. I make a very good target pistol pistol.. I am backlogged about six guns now..
OPS OPPS OPPPPPSSSSS
BANG BANG it's 5:26 and the shuttle just went over heading in for a landing 13 miles frome here. They didn't think it was going to be able to land here today because of the weather I guess it opened up just enough for them to bring it in.. That saves the tax payers over a million bucks not having to bring it back here to fix up for launch again. It was a good thing it made it here.. California was bad for landing and they would have had to go to White Sands Sandia base to land.. They have never landed there and it's not high on he list of choices. I am not sure how the preference goes but we are first and CA is second..
Ok I have run my mouth enough for tonight..

BANG BANG
WOW Christmas is getting so so close.. Me and K are past the present shopping days now.. Just getting too old for it.. Our grand children are 14 years and on up.. Out get this now Our Great Grandchildren are not even close to us here in fl. they are in NM. So we are sending money to all the older ones and presents to the great ones.. We still enjoy Christmas but with K in the bad condion and me in the condition I am we are going to stay home like we do most of the time and watch TV and hope somone comes to visite.. We will probable make it to church. We went Wed and had a church wide dinner. Nice ham and beef and lots of great coverd dishes.. All the ladies and some of the men just try to out do them selves at potluck or coverd dishes.. I always eat too much.. I have to try all of it you know.. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings. adn I didn't.
I am still in deep pain. I am taking twice the dose of codine and Ibuprofin which is all they want me to take. I have pain patches got at the VA and I wear them on my upper back at a point just inside my right shoulder blade and on both sides a my belt line. It doesn't help.. I also have a tens unit I put on my shoulder and back and move it around from time to time.. For you who don't know what that is it's a unit that you put two paches on either side on he pain area and wires from the paches are connected to a litle box about the size of a pack of cigs. the thing sends out electric pulces either constan or pulsing. you set it like you want and as high as you can stand.. Christmas Cross
We just got home from a Christmas service at out church. K felt good enough to go with me. It was a fantastic service. We have a new pastor who we looked for a very long time. He is a blessing. We had communion and he sang a solo Mary Did You know.. It was really great. we rode around for a while looking at the Christmas light decorations. Coming back toward my house We can see the white cross my grandson and I put up on my ham radio tower 65 feet up.. It looks great in the misty night sky.
I went over and read the comments on our diary entries. They are heart warming. It's so nice to see you guys pulling each other up. I really enjoy the ones to me. I get a tear now and then..... If you don't read them you should.. Leave a note there also so we can see you visited..
My pain wasn't too bad.. I spent about four hours in my shot catching up on gun work I am behind on. Had a two hour nap then to church..
I have got to get busy and figure out how to put pictures on here..

Gaylord is out today
Oh my. I typed a great long entry and then got distracted by something and it got deleted.. Oh well it probably wasn't all that good anyway. I am still suffering with my back problem.. I do have an appointment with a doctor I like for Tuesday afternoon.. He helped operate on me when they removed my colon and after that for follow up. Then he was the one who worked on me when I overdosed with morphine and methadone. S0 he knows me very well. It was just difficult trying to get an appointment.. I got stir crazy today and went to out to out gun range and tested a gun I had been working on and a new pair of shooting glasses I had for two weeks and had not had a chance to try them out.. Well the gun worked like I wanted it to and the glasses worked better than I expected. Now another good thing about the visit to the range today.... The weather here today is just MARVELOUS. That brought out the gators in my favorite pond near the range and the one I call Gaylord was out there showing off to a couple smaller fellas.. no doubt telling them who's mating area that pond is. They do what is called a high profile to show dominance and just who the mating area belongs to. It's like they raise about a third of their body out of the water so you can see how big three are. I think they do that by holding their breath. It was nice to see this time of the year.. Usually you have difficulty even finding a gator to look at in the middle of the holidays like this.. Made my day that's for sure.. We are close to record temps today.. My back is making me pay for going out there.. What the heck I was getting stir crazy.. I hope all of you had a great Christmas and are planning a happy and safe New Year celebration.. K and I always watch the Ball go up at Times Square.

Things are rough
I did receive this wonderful picture. It came at a good time for me.. My wife K is in the hospital in Orlando having a battery replaced in her pacemaker and also having a wire replaced that went bad.. The heart battery replacement and rewire went good but The wire wouldn't stay in place so they had to put another type in. She has less than 40% lung function now and they have moved her to the pulmonary ward for further treatment.. Bad part is I am down with very bad back problems and I cant go visit her. My daughter is helping us out but it puts a great load on her. She teaches and helps her husband who works with the greater Orlando Baptist ministry with over 1200 churches and he is on the road a lot. She also has four children and is an hour from here. She is thinking about quitting teaching so she can do more. We are giving a lot of thought as to how these problems should be handled. It's nice to have somone here with me now and then. She will get me up and out tomollie for doctor appoiints and we will play it from there Yet Still when I feel down and low. I see someone with tougher problems. I try to hold my shoulders up , hold the door for them and smile at them and say hello.. Sorry for mestakes, I am tired Things are rough. God Bless You All
